Customers usually are interested in Lee Kleinhelter's process of reinventing our vintage furniture. It's a long journey from begin to end with most of the vintage pieces. Here is an example of the transformation of our Gothic Side Chairs.
Lee spotted these chairs on a buying trip to North Carolina. They were rusted and very uneven. They also were missing cushions.
First, we needed to have them professionally painted with paint suitable for the old iron frames. Lee liked the look of the original white, so we had the old paint removed and several coats of white semi-gloss added. Next, they were off to the upholsterer. We already loved the way the chocolate upholstery on our Red Chippendale Dining Chairs looked, so we decided to order more of the same high-end outdoor chocolate fabric.
After several weeks of updates, the chairs finally arrive back at the store. The lines and character of the original items remain, but the chairs are much more pulled together and unique.
Finally, we have the reimagined Gothic Side Chairs professionally photographer for the website and 1stdibs.
